Cefacynar®
Hard capsules
basic information
This product information corresponds to the patient leaflet, prescribed by law in Germany, in all essential parts.
Field of application:
dyspeptic complaints, especially in case of functional disorders of the derivating biliary
tract. Note: in case of complaints persisting for more than 1 week or at periodic recurring
or unclear complaints, a physician should be consulted.
Composition:
1 hard capsule contains:
Active ingredient:
dry extract from artichoke leaves (4-6:1) 400 mg.
Extraction solvent: water
Excipients:
talc, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, maize starch, lactose monohydrate,
gelatin, purified water, sodium laurilsulfate, dyestuffs E141, E171, E172.
Contra-indications:
known allergy to artichoke and/or to other Compositae or to the excipients of the product.
Biliary obstruction. CefacynarŽ must not be taken by children under 12 years. In case of
cholelithiasis, the remedy may only be used after consultation of a physician. There has
not been sufficient research for the use of CefacynarŽ during pregnancy and lactation.
Therefore, it should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.
Interactions:
the simultaneous administration of CefacynarŽ can weaken the efficacy of coagulationinhibiting
substances of the coumarin type (phenprocoumon, warfarin).
Therefore, in case of simultaneous intake, the coagulation parameter should be monitored
at close intervals especially at the beginning and after finalisation of the intake of
CefacynarŽ, in order to adjust the dosage of the coagulation-inhibiting medicaments.
Patients taking CefacynarŽ and simultaneously pharmaceuticals with one of these active
ingredients should therefore consult their physician.
Precautions for use and warnings:
contains lactose.
Dosage:
adults and adolescents from 12 years take 1 hard capsule 3 times a day.
Kind and duration of application:
CefacynarŽ hard capsules should be taken with the main meals with sufficient liquid
(preferably a glass of water). In principle, the application of CefacynarŽ is not limited,
but is, however, determined by the course of the complaints. Please pay particular
attention to "Precautions for use and warnings".
Undesirable effects:
with the application of artichoke-containing pharmaceuticals, cases of mild diarrhea with
typically associated symptoms (e.g. abdominal cramping), epigastric complaints, nausea
and heartburn as well as hypersensitivity reactions such as e.g. skin rashes have
appeared.
Information on the frequency of these possible undesirable effects is not available.
In the leaflet, the following is pointed out to the patient: in case you notice any of the
above mentioned undesirable effects, inform your physician so that he/she can decide
about the severity and possible necessary measures. With the first appearance of a hypersensitivity
reaction, do not take in CefacynarŽ again.
Commercial forms:
Hard capsules: 50 pcs., 100 pcs.
For any questions about risks and side effects please read the leaflet or ask your doctor or pharmacist.
